The Yangtze Hotel, Nanjing

Standing at No.2 Baoshan Street is a western castle-like building named “Yangtze Hotel” , a household name in China's Republican Period (1912-1949) . This hotel was constructed entirely with bricks from the Ming City Wall, which made it a wonder among all existing Republican Period buildings in Nanjing. During that period, it attracted local dignitaries for social events, many foreign dignitaries, diplomats lived there when they visited China.

Yangtze Hotel was built in 1912, the building style of Yangtze Hotel was obviously influenced by the French castle-like mansion in the Renaissance period. Instead of choosing a Chinese style structure with a huge roof that would have cost a large amount of labor and material, Yangtze Hotel adapted the structure of western architecture while also decorating the building with some Chinese style components and ornamentation. Meanwhile, the whole structure of the hotel was built with Chinese Ming Dynasty city wall bricks.

Seven different types of spacious and bright rooms.
